The collection of these precious stem cells is a totally safe process. This completely painless and non- invasive procedure is usually performed by the Midwife, Doctor or Phlebotomist and takes less than five minutes. Following the safe delivery of your baby a sample of stem cell-rich blood is taken from the umbilical cord and collected in a special Umbilical cord blood collection bag. This sample will then be transported to your chosen facility.

The stem cells will be counted and isolated, then cryogenically frozen and stored for 20 years ready for use should they ever be required. These stem cells will be 'on deposit' for the child, or indeed, any member of the immediate family who may need them in the future.
